KC

Background: KC came into us when his owner became unwell and was not able to care for him.

Character:  KC is a lovely, affectionate Border Collie with a real enthusiasm for life, learning and building relationships with his people. He is highly motivated by both food and toys, making him a keen and willing participant in training. He enjoys having a job to do and thrives when learning is fun, rewarding and built around positive reinforcement.

KC also has a sensitive side, which is an important part of understanding him and helping him feel safe and confident. He benefits from thoughtful, mindful handling that recognises when a situation may have placed him under pressure. Giving him the time and space he needs to decompress after challenging experiences is essential in helping him process what has happened and return to a comfortable emotional state.

With a balance of engaging training, positive experiences and opportunities to rest and reset, KC can be supported to build confidence and resilience at his own pace. Understanding his individual

needs, respecting his sensitivities and celebrating his strengths will help him feel secure, understood and ready to learn,

Looking for:

KC is looking for an experienced home with previous knowledge and understanding of Border Collies and their unique needs. As a young Collie, he will need a home that can provide an appropriate balance of physical exercise, mental stimulation and engaging training opportunities to help him thrive.

KC would be best suited to an adult-only home with no children, where his sensitive side can be understood and supported. He will benefit from people who can recognise when he needs help and approach situations mindfully.
